Sejarah Kurung Kedah menyerlahkan kepentingan budaya yang mendalam serta daya tarikannya yang kekal malar segar, menjadikannya sebahagian daripada legasi fesyen rantau ini yang amat dihargai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asal-usul Baju Kurung Kedah dikesan dari Selatan Thailand, memandangkan kedudukan geografi Kedah yang berhampiran dengan sempadan negara tersebut. Sejarah Kurung Kedah menyerlahkan peranan Sultanah Kedah, Wan Hajar Wan Ismail, atau lebih dikenali sebagai Mak Wan Besar, yang merupakan individu pertama memperkenalkan gaya fesyen ini.\n<br><br>\nPada peringkat awal, busana ini dikhaskan untuk golongan bangsawan dan elit istana. Walaupun ia menyerupai Baju Kurung Johor, busana ini tidak mempunyai bahagian 'kekek' dan 'pesak'. Pada dasarnya, Baju Kurung Kedah berfungsi sebagai pakaian harian, termasuklah untuk melakukan kerja-kerja di sawah atau ladang.\n<br><br>\nBusana ini menampilkan potongan labuh baju yang pendek setakat paras punggung, menjadikannya sangat sesuai untuk digayakan bersama kain batik atau pelikat.
